Oil on panel (15 x 15 cm), no frame
Rob has been drawing since his early childhood and gradually his drawings, paintings and sculptures took more shape, encouraged by people around him. He preferred a graphic training to art school, a choice that was not easy. But it always kept itching to start painting. And now, many years later, Rob, a late-bloomer, can be found in his studio almost every day, finally producing his paintings, which are attracting a great deal of interest, judging by their sales. During the last Art 10 Days for example, almost all his works were sold.
The style of Rob Donders developed via surrealistic drawings, detailed watercolours, bronze sculptures, abstract works in acrylics to impressionistic oil landscapes in which the influence of Emile Claus and Job Graadt van Roggen can be felt. The landscapes surrounding his home town of Bergen, with their varied fields, forests and dunes, are a constant source of inspiration to him.
